Welcome to a blog on the Parish of Effin Parish and its History.
During my study for the Certificate in Local History at the University of Limerick (2011), I had to undertake a lot of local history research and came across a lot of interesting facts on Effin which I have included in this blog. Anne Marie I have written a few articles about the Fitzgibbon family from Effin and one about the famine years in the area. If you send me an email address I will send them to review to see if they would be something that you would like to include. Jim Regan email mutharegan@aol.com.

I would like to be in touch with anyone who knew the Quilty family . I believe the family were cattle dealers in the Effin area . I would like to be in touch with the child / children or grandchildren of Christina Quilty .
Hello, Anne Marie,
My great-great-grandfather Michael Callaghan was born in Effin in 1838 and went to Australia in 1858 after his mother died in that latter famine. I wrote his biography ten or so years ago and am revisiting it to do a better job. I could really use some help with what Effin was like back then. You can reach me at the email below and see my earlier work at https://www.callaghansofbirdslanding.com/
Thank you.
